Co-organized by the Marsh Art Gallery and the Cape Ann
Historical Museum, Gloucester, Massachusetts, this is Nell
Blaine's first major retrospective exhibition since her death. A
native of Richmond, Blaine (1922-1996) was an important
member of the second generation of the New York School.
Coming to prominence with her abstractions as one of the
few women involved in Abstract Expressionism, she is more
widely known and acknowledged for her oils and watercolors
of gardens, landscapes, and flower-filled still lifes.
