The Carrie Collection presents Philippe Jourdain as their monthly exhibition between July and August. Jourdain displays recent painting that are figurative in theme with varying degrees of abstrastion. All paintings are energized by a color pallet that compliments the movements and shapes of the forms. Stories of music and dance are generated by this Haitian artist's work.
Philippe Jourdain was born in Port-au-Prince in 1965 where he began to paint with both acrylic and oil at a young age. He graduated from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico in 1991 with a degree in architecture. In 1994 he returned to Haiti to work and establish a studio with Antoine Fritzvelt (Rourous), Legrand, Marc-Antoine, Pascal Smarth, Philippe Saint Louis, Patrice Lerebours. Jourdain has shown his work mainly in Haiti.
