"Traces of Colour: Depiction of Autumn and Seasonal Change"
2001-09-23 until 2001-11-18
McMichael Canadian Art Collection
Toronto, ON,
CA
Traces of Colour will comprise approximately fifty artworks by members of the Group of
Seven and their contemporaries. Executed in a variety of media, each will
provide an opportunity to examine the artists' depiction of autumn and
seasonal change.
A further twenty works by First Nations and Inuit artists will examine not
only seasonal changes but also the relationship to the natural environment
as expressed in aboriginal cultures.
An additional component, approximately twenty works, will demonstrate the
connection by present day artists to themes explored in earlier years by
members of the Group of Seven. Alternatively, work by these artists may
deal more generally with the environment as an artistic theme.
Traces of Colour opens at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg on September
22 and will continue until November 18, 2001 and will utilize not only their
galleries, but also the grounds.
