"Skimdeep: An Exhibition of Work by Abi Stockbridge and Anne Marr"
2001-11-01 until 2001-11-30
London Institute, London College of Printing
London, ,
UK United Kingdom
In this first joint exhibition of their work, Abi Stockbridge and Anne Marr present
a completely new body of work exploring their fascination for all things surface. Both artists will be producing editions which will include: flock T-shirts
and essential anti stress kits, which will be for sale during the
exhibition.
Abi Stockbridge produces paintings of intense hues: semi-abstract motifs are
explored through endless versions and variations of colour and pattern, creating a plethora of optical sensations. Sampling, repeating, and
improvising an array of graphic elements to create paintings which delight in
their own multitudinousness!
Anne Marr's creates solutions for modern day problems. Her everyday
observations are transformed into humorous objects - customised to support
ordinary individuals in their unique habits and bizarre needs. The wacky,
wonderful and humdrum: a shopping trolley printed in egg mayo or cheese & ham,
easy PEASy moments, objects which provide private space in public places.
Abi Stockbridge graduated from Goldsmiths College in 97, she mixes art with textiles.
Anne Marr graduated from Goldsmiths College in 96, she mixes textiles with art.
