At the Gallery Particular in Lisbon works by Lilian Pestre de Almeida and Guilherme Cardoso will be put on permanent display. The exhibition demonstrates Calco and Xilo engravings
in either single techniques or combined with mixed nedia. The artists present a range of sizes of prints from five centimeters square up to 100X100 cm. Their work is explored on paper, textiles and wood. Pestre de Almeida and Cardosa are both members of GRAVURA - A Cooperative of Portuguese Engravers
Guilherme Cardoso was born
in Huambo, Angola in 1918. In addition to his interests in printmaking, Cardosa received a degree in Civiculture and an Agronomical Engineer
Diploma by the I.S.A - Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Lisbon. Cardoso received a British
Council Award in Plant Breeding Station at Edinburgh, Scotland.
Cardosa has a broad range of international experiences as a state functionary of the MNE (Foreign Affairs Ministry). He has travelled to several countries, in Africa, Europe and Americas (south, central and north).
Guilherme Cardosa has participated in several international exhibitions - Évora and Vila Nova de Cerveira in Portugal; Badajoz, Spain; Kanagawa and Kochi in Japan; Taipei, Taiwan and Cluj, Romania.
