Youth, emerging artists, international exchange and new media are
the heady blend that animates the Atlantic Cultural Space
E-Lounge. From the 23 to the 25 of May 2002 conference and career
celebration participants can drop into the E-Lounge for an on-going,
on-line interdisciplinary event featuring new media art, web
screenings and interactive discussions from points around the
Atlantic perimeter.
The E-lounge provides conference-goers the opportunity of
large-screen viewing and interaction with web-design, web-generated
audio and visual art work and processes. The E-lounge program
explores an exciting strategic direction in Atlantic cultural
development by engaging with technology as a problematic of cultural
evolution. It works the dynamics of proximity/distance and
periphery/center from Moncton as a specific geographical location on
the Atlantic.
E-Lounge programs will showcase recent cutting edge-web work
produced by new media artists in the Atlantic Region as well as an
international program of web generated works for the web (e.g. flash
animations), digitized web works (indexical imagery of photographs,
paintings, installations), audio-scapes, interactive web-generated
works, web-cam interventions from France, Cuba and other parts of
Canada.
