Adam Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of the recent paintings by Michael Hyam.Michael's works are meticulously rendered and figurative; his subjects are extraordinary and often literary in origin.
The stories of Judith and Holfernes and of Salome recur as themes in this body of work, as do symbolic motifs such as a black vase and dried flowers and the charged brooding landscapes. These are works which are deeply personal; they are close to obsessive, certainly eccentric.
Michael uses a broad range of media in this body of work, intermingling drawing with painting, intricate detail with impressionism, and carefully built-up layers of paint with freeflowing delicate washes.
Michael has won many awards and has exhibited widely in the UK.
A catalogue of works will accompany the exhibition.
