His Excellency Mr. Q.A.M.A Rahim, Secretary General - SAARC will open the show on Monday, 29th. April 2002, at 5.30 p.m. at the Siddhartha Art Gallery, Babar Mahal Rivisited. Siddhartha Art Gallary is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by Khalid Mahmood Mithu and Kanak Chanpa Chakma from Bangladesh.This dynamic duo have garnered many accolades for their work. A glance at their CVs' reveal that both have won many prestigious prizes both nationally and internationally. Their work reflects the vibrancy of the art scene in the Bangladesh.

Kanak Chanpa Chakma studied art on a University level in Bangladesh and completed a Master's degree in the US. She has won awards internationally and has been included in exhibitions in Europe and North America, in addition to shows in Bangladesh.

Khalid Mahmood Mithu's education has spanned several continents. He has received awards in the US and in Bangladesh. Mithu has also exhibited internationally.

This exhibition is the very first by Bangladeshi artists at the Siddhartha Art Gallery. "Investing in creativity" is the main objective of the Gallery; this also includes the promotion of regional awareness through the language of art. This exihibition marks yet another milestone in bridging the cultural ties between the peoples of Nepal and Bangladesh.  40 paintings of oil and acrylic on canvas will be exhibited. This exhibition is sponsored by The Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd .
