"Ver-de-ga: Xue Song Fashion Series Works, Solo Exhibition"
2002-06-27 until 2002-07-11
ShanghArt
Shanghai, , CN China

“Ver-de-ga” is thoroughly Shanghai local dialect and means “irrelevance”. However, Xue Song is interpreting “Ver-de-ga” in his own unique way. For example, Xue Song's  “Go into Business” is a work around  Jin Xunhua,  a famous hero in 1960s. The figure is build up as a collage of newspaper and bookpage fragments showing images of the enthusiastic young people working in the countryside in that time. The background is covered with reproductions of money from different ages.

"Xue Song posses the fundamental cultural characteristics of his generation, a measured humour, constructiveness and a profound historical memory, a rationalization in the appraisal of historical politics, and of introspection".

What a kind of visual effects wills the current exhibition of Xue Song’s works create for us? Let’s wait and see.

Xue Song was born 1965 in Anhui, graduated from the Shanghai Theater Academy in 1988. Xue Song held numourous solo and group exhibition in Shanghai, Germany, Hong Kong and the US.  He lives and works in Shanghai.
