"Liquid City: Work by Frank Rodick"
2002-08-01 until 2002-08-25
Centro Cultural Recoleta
Buenos Aires, ,
AR Argentina
Frank Rodick will exhibit his series of photographs, entitled Liquid City, at the Encuentros Abiertos de Fotografia, Argentinas annual festival of photographic art. The Toronto artists solo exhibition will open August 1, 2002 at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, where the artist will be present. The show runs until August 25 when it will travel to the Cabildo Museum in the provincial capital of Cordoba for the month of September. On display will be the entire Liquid City series of 40 black and white photographs.
Stephen Perloff, editor of the internationally respected Photo Review, has written: ...one could mix one part Lee Friedlander, one part Garry Winogrand, and one part Ralph Eugene Meatyard and vaguely approximate Rodicks vision. Thats not to say that Rodicks work is in any way derivative; its just in good company.... The beings who populate his Liquid City are neither objects of leering, elitist humor, or patronizing sympathy. Rather they assert themselves unashamedly, people without faces, children with paws instead of hands. Their existence inspires awe in the wild diversity of life....
After the exhibitions, prints from Liquid City will enter the permanent collections of the Museo Nacional de Bella Artes de Buenos Aires and the Escuela Argentina de Fotografia, Argentinas premier public art museum and photography school respectively.
