Los Angeles - Some of Israel's best artists are now featured at The Jewish
Federation's Bell Family Gallery. The exhibit, 'Israel in Crisis: 20 Years of Israeli Art,' showcases the Michael Hittleman Gallery collection of artworks centered on commentary about life in Israel, featuring Israeli and American artists from 1980-2000. The artworks cover a broad range of fine art, from Israel's contemporary to its avant-garde. Included in the collection are Israeli's best native artist, Gabriel Cohen, and the best women artists in Israel - Michal Na'aman, Pamela Levy and Hilla Lulu.
"I wanted viewers to see that Israeli artists handle difficult subject matter and are not afraid to lift up rocks and see the underside," stated Michael Hittleman. "The works are all about politics, discomfort with society, uneasy feelings, dread, sexuality and the death of dreams."
