Experiment and Mastery is a retrospective of the work of Jan Collins
Selman spanning the past 40 years. An award-winning artist
best known for her pastels and oils of Cape Cod, Martha’s
Vineyard and Nantucket, she received her formal training
at the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston, on a National
Scholastic Arts Scholarship.

paintings have won her a place in the permanent collections
of three Massachusetts museums: Cape Museum of Fine
Arts, Duxbury Art Museum Complex, and Provincetown Art
Museum. She is a member of the Pastel Society of America,
The Copley Society, Provincetown Art Association, and Cape
Cod Art Association. On the "cutting edge" of computer art,
Ms. Selman’s one-woman show of giclée prints was presented
at the Cape Museum of Fine Arts in November 1996, where
ten of the works were accepted into the museum's collection
and shown as the "Garden Series."
