The Photographers' Gallery invites nominations for The Citibank Photography
Prize 2003. The winner of this leading award will receive £20,000 and will
join the list of high calibre winners that includes Richard Billingham,
Andreas Gursky, and Boris Mikhailov. Since it was established in 1996 the
award has become the major international prize for photography, attracting
over 100,000 visitors in 2002.
This year The Photographers' Gallery is delighted to welcome Citigroup’s
consumer bank, Citibank, as the new Sponsor of The Prize. They continue
from Citigroup Private Bank, who had sponsored The Prize since its inception
in 1996.
Candidates for nomination must have a substantial body of work which has
been exhibited or published in print in the United Kingdom during the period
from 1 November 2001 to 31 October 2002. All nominations must be received
before Friday, 27 September 2002.
The work of the four shortlisted artists will be exhibited at The
Photographers' Gallery, London, from 31 January to 29 March 2003. The
announcement of the winner will be on 27 February 2003 at a special award
ceremony.
