"Lora Fosberg: Really Huge"

Shocking, naughty, and provocative describes Lora Fosbergís work from Really Huge, her new exhibition at the Aron Packer Gallery. The voyeuristic content of her artwork reveals a departure for the artist from her past oeuvre. The grid structure present in her older paintings, prints, and collages has expanded and, in some cases, exploded onto the wall.
However, the works still possess her paradoxically personal yet anonymous quality. Fosberg elegantly balances her cartoon-like figures with sexually charged content, which gives her work a sense of humor. Not aggressive but intriguing, the viewer cannot help but to take a closer look as his/her curiosity is piqued by each piece.
Fosberg plays with the sense of excitement and shame viewers experience as they glimpse into private exchanges from the lives of strangers. For example, ìMissing Youî is created using letters written between a prison inmate and his girlfriend. Come see the other interesting prints, paintings, and installation work that Fosberg has created.
This past August, Lora Fosberg presided as the Resident Artist at the Frans Masereel Art Center outside Antwerp, Belgium. There she learned a new printmaking process using Toray Plates. We are excited to see the results of her new process in this exhibition.
