Young artists wanted for national art competition! Entries are invited for the 18th annual Absa L'Atelier competition, South Africa's longest running national art awards. The competition is open to artists between the ages of 21 and 35 who are resident in South Africa. Five prizes are awarded: The overall winner receives R70 000 in total from Absa, as well as a return air ticket to France, and up to six months accommodation at the world renowned artist colony, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
Four additional merit prizes of R15 000 each will be awarded.
The closing date for entries in all the regions is 7 March 2003. Works will be received between 3 and 7 March 2003 at the following collection points:

The original works of art must have been completed in the 24 months prior to the closing date and a maximum of three works may be entered, per artist at only one ollection point. Works in any medium will be accepted, but refer to entry forms for size and presentation specifications. Entry forms are available from all Absa branches countrywide as well as art galleries, technikons and universities.
