Julio Aguilera was born in Venezuela and grew up in Caracas. He started to show his artistic talents as a young boy when he sat with an artist that painted the Mountain of Avila. This induced a desire in the young Julio to become himself an artist, and instilled a love for the artists brush and paints, in time the old master presented to Julio his very own set of oils and brushes, and the artistic career of this young boy started.
Julio's first piece was displayed at an art contest when he was only six years old, a portrait of Simon Bolivar, at the Prismacolor Art Contest for children. He won first place. This inspiration set new goals for Julio and he has been painting ever since.
Julio Aguilera is acknowledged to be "The Painter of the Colors of the Heart and Soul". Aguilera is a highly sought after artist in New York, where his most recent shows in 2001-2002 in Manhattan on 5th Avenue, have been complete sell-outs.
Lady Liberty, Julio's most recent work, was created as a result of the tragic event of 9/11. He was so affected by the horror of that day that he created a 4-piece painting of LIBERTY CRACKED. Although she was broken, she is still standing tall.
