DIGITAL DUOS is a project of Contact 2003, the 7th Toronto Photography Festival. The theme of this series of digital Toronto streetscapes by PAT FLEISHER is duality. The artist mixes two versions of each locality in a single frame to create a "duo", or banner-like image, that captures the inherent historicity of each location. In many of her photos she captures not only what is in front of her but also what is around her - the subconscious cultural milieu we are part of. Fleisher offers a mix of pictures; there are those that seem based on realism and those that are
pulled into surrealistic "interventions" using the array of filters in the photoshop digital darkroom.
Photoartist Pat Fleisher was born and resides in Toronto, where she is well
known as the publisher/editor
of ARTFOCUS MAGAZINE, a contemporary periodical of the visual arts,
founded in 1992. See artfocus.com.
Fleisher's cityscape photos have been recently exhibited in Toronto,
Montreal, the USA, Mexico City and Madrid. Her works are in many
private collections.
Fleisher also takes her camera to art events in Toronto. DIGITAL DIVAS
are digitally transformed snapshots of Toronto art community celebrities.
All proceeds from Digital Divas will go to the Children's Wish Foundation.
