"Fourth annual San Francisco Photographic Print Exposition Opens Today"

70 galleries and private dealers from the U.S and Europe will present the finest photographic art dating from 19th century to the most cutting edge contemporary photography. Last year's event attracted nearly 4000 visitors and more are expected this year.
Collectors, curators, and photographers will have an extraordinary opportunity to view thousands of images. The fair is organized by Stephen Cohen, organizer of photo l.a., the Los Angeles Photographic Print Exposition which celebrated it?s eleventh year in January.
Works by Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Eugene Atget, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Imogen Cunningham, Edward S. Curtis, Michael Kenna, Lauren Greenfield, Lynn Geesaman, Andre Kertesz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray, Sebastian Salgado, Josef Sudek, Weegee, Edward Weston and many others will be exhibited for sale.
Fort Mason Center is one of San Francisco's most recognizable destinations. Previously an active military facility, Fort Mason Center is now a thriving cultural center within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
A photographers panel, "Landscape Photography: A View From Here," will be held Saturday July 26th at 10 a.m. Photographers on the panel include Michael Kenna, David Maisel, Lyle Gomes, Martha Casanave, Todd Hido, and Alan Ross. "Collecting and Connoisseurship: A Field Guide to the Most Important Places", will be hosted by noted curator and appraiser, Dale W. Stulz will include: Keith Davis, of the Hallmark Collection; Ursula Gropper, photography dealer and collector; Robert Flynn Johnson, curator, Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts at The Palace of The Legion of Honor and noted San Francisco collector, Paul Sack. This will take place on Saturday, July 26th at 2pm.
Collecting Seminars are held before public hours, at 9 a.m., and are limited to 30 people. This year seminar hosts are Keith Davis, of The Hallmark Collection, Robert Flynn Johnson, curator in charge of the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts at The Palace of The Legion of Honor, and Nora Kabot, curator at Site Santa Fe. Please call for the schedule. Reservations are required, tickets are sixty-five dollars per seminar and include a three-day pass to Photo San Francisco.
For sale, in conjunction with Photo San Francisco and for the benefit of The Fort Mason Center, are two 25 print editions of photographs by seminal bay area photographer Michael Kenna. Exhibition hours are Friday, July 25th & Saturday, July 26th, noon-7pm. Sunday, July 27th, noon - 6pm. Tickets are $15 for one day and $25 for a 3-day pass.
