Kontainer Gallery is pleased to present a drawing group show, featuring
gallery artists: Jane Harris (UK), Katie Pratt (UK), Tom Chamberlain (UK),
Jonathan Parsons (UK), Hillary Bleecker (LA), Carolyn Castano (LA), James
Gobel (LA) and Margaret Griffith (LA). Some have shown extensively in the US, as well as in Europe, in both gallery and museums. This group of artists is truly up and coming.
Jane Harris, winner of the 2002 Jerwood Drawing Prize, showed extensively
throughout Europe and is having her first solo show in US at Kontainer
Gallery in April 2004 and her first museum show is scheduled in 2005 at
Aldrich Museum, Connecticut.
Katie Pratt is currently showing in New British Painting at John Hansard
Gallery, UK, and later this year will be at Wexner Center, Ohio, in a
survey of new painting practices curated by Hellen Mollesworth. In 2002,
she won the Jerwood Painting Prize and had her first museum show at Forum
D'art Contemporaine, Sierre, CH.
Tom Chamberlain was featured in Shimmering Substance at Arnolfini, Bristol
(traveled to Cornerhouse, Manchester) co-curated by Barry Schwabsky and
Catsou Roberts. He will have his first solo show in US at Kontainer in May
2004.
Jonathan Parsons has exhibited extensively throughout Europe, including
"Sensation", Royal Academy, London, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, Brooklyn
Museum of Art, New York and British Art Show 5, Hayward Gallery (National
Touring Exhibition).
Hillary Bleecker and Carolyn Castano were both featured in "International
Paper" at Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Carolyn Castano is currently showing
at Lombard-Fried, New York.
James Gobel has also shown at Hammer Museum in 2000 and has recently had a
solo show at Kravets/Wehby, New York.
