"47th Annual Delta Exhibition: Works by Southern Artists"
2004-06-03 until 2004-07-25
Arkansas Arts Center, Decorative Arts Museum
Little Rock, AK,
USA United States of America
This eclectic Arkansas Arts Center exhibition is recognized as one of the most important regional competitions for contemporary art. Open to Arkansans and artists in the contiguous states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, the Delta is a good snapshot of the contemporary art scene in the mid-south. Don’t pass up this opportunity to see a vast range of works including collage, stoneware, silver gelatin, wood and canvas.
Featured in this exhibition is "Self Improvement" by Kelly Moore.
Kelly Moore is a Self Taught Artist who has no formal training or education in art. His Original, Expressive work has been referred to as Outsider Art, Art Brut, Raw Art and Visionary Art. His intuitive style and technique reflects a raw, primitive quality that is frequently juxtaposed with a startling innocence.
Duality is a frequent theme in Moore's work, "Art makes me transparent, an internal excavation. Some days it's Gold and somedays it's mud. Either way, that's who I am and it will always be a perfect thumb print of my soul."
Moore began painting at the age of 36 after a career in Real Estate in New York City and Arkansas. Since then, Moore has exhibited nationally and internationally and his work has been actively collected in the United States and Europe.
