Roger Cummiskey exhibits new works at The Roxy ArtHouse Gallery, Roxburgh Place in Edinburgh, Scotland September 9 through 19, 2004. Cummiskey's paintings, watercolours, are based on the wanderings and writings of James Joyce and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Bloomsday in 1904. Roger Cummiskey is a Dublin watercolourist and has exhibited his interpretations widely of the writings of James Joyce. This will be his first exhibition in Scotland. At the same venue - "International Joyce" - an exhibition organized by the Cultural Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland tells the story of the Irish writer James Joyce (1882-1941), one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.
The Director of the Roxy ArtHouse, Michael Borland, invited Roger to exhibit in Edinburgh after visiting his exhibition on the same theme at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre in Dublin in 2003 opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin. Presenting an international programme of Theatre and Art in the Roxy Art House, Edinburgh's newest and most exciting year round art space. With four theatres, gallery, café-bar, food and internet access, this venue is firmly on the map for the fringe festival.
