Time, Space, Thought, refers to the constructed concepts by which we are defined and limited to in our daily lives. Andrea Maguire's concern is to expand these definitions by inquiring into these accepted constructs. By reducing images to the essential and by exploring new interventions into space, her intention is to suggest metaphysical and transformative experiences which explore and question the accepted forms of time, space and thought. The ubiquitous motif of the 'vessel' is used as a metaphor for movement through time and space, a journey or passage that signifies transformation.
Andrea Maguire lives and works in Toronto where she has both taught and holds an active studio practice. She has exhibited extensively in both Canada and internationally. She was recently invited to Japan to exhibit her installation, "Time, Space, Thought," and another installation, "In the Presence of Absence" was exhibited at the Toronto Art Expo. She received her MFA from Norwich University and her work is included in the collections of Ernst & Young, Dieckmann & Assoc.(Chicago), Magna International and Ontario Hydro.
Catherine Daigle's new work, Daddy's Home is a mixed media installation based on a childhood memory that when daddy comes home all the fun stops. The work is about power-in particular, the abuse of power, be it in the political arena, the workplace or even the home.
Look out, cause daddy's home.
