Entries for the South Australian Museum’s 2005 Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize
will open on Monday 10 January 2005.
The prize promotes and recognises excellence in art that depicts natural history, and
is open to Australian and international artists of all ages. It is fast becoming one of the
most prestigious art prizes in the country and organisers are expecting record entry
levels following unprecedented interest in the event in 2004.
Key dates for 2005:
Entries open: 10 January 2005
Entries close: 27 May 2005
Winner announced: 5 August 2005
Exhibition SA Museum: 6 August to 11 September 2005
People’s Choice announced: 25 August 2005
Entry categories are:
A. Oil, Acrylic or mix
B. Watercolour, pastel, gouache, ink, charcoal, pencil or mix
C. Sculpture
The overall winner will receive The Waterhouse Award of $30,000.
Each category
winner will receive $10,000 with runner up prize monies and a People’s Choice Award
also presented. Total prize money is $85,000.
