"Oudi Arroni: They, Works on Paper"
2005-01-28 until 2005-02-17
Temporary
New York, NY,
USA United States of America
In his second solo since returning from South America, Oudi is
exclusively displaying works on paper. His recent images depict the
human condition as we have perhaps dared to see only with our inner
eyes before. The large head portraits of individual men and women,
each alone, bruised, some tormented and some wounded, occupy two large
floors of Temporary.
The work is extremely energetic and powerful. Seemingly spontaneous,
yet with control, on a rough paper, the artist used: Acuarela, oil,
crayola, and ink. Twenty one in all, the 7' long drawings of just heads
from the back, the front and profile are hung raw, no frames, no glass,
he said, "I want a direct and close relationship to the pieces without
any barricades."
After years as a highly successful editorial and advertising
photographer, Oudi discovered a zeal for painting. With countless
images clamoring inside him, he began painting with a passion that
rapidly won him an enthusiastic audience. In 1992 he closed his New
York studio and relocated to Mexico where he studied at the Academia de
San Carlos in Mexico City. He has been honing and expanding his art
throughout South America and the Southwest, and his works have been
exhibited internationally and nationally throughout the Americas, in
Santa Fe, Houston California, and again here in New York.
Oudi Arroni has been a Premiere Portoflio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2003. View more of his portfolio at: http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/o/oudiarroni/
