An exhibition by photographer Kevin Van Aelst will run from June 16-August 15, 2005. Combining complex ideas with mundane subject matter, Van Aelst's photography
applies mathematical patterns such as the golden ratio and fractals to
everyday objects. In this series, "Wonderbread" slices that have been cut
into fractal patterns capture each successive permutation of the fractal as
an individual color photograph, Van Aelst's response to "the notion that
mathematical patterns exist all around us, but are no longer part of the
popular consciousness."
Founded in 1975, Real Art Ways is one of the country’s seminal
multi-disciplinary alternative spaces, featuring an extensive gallery
exhibition program, as well as commissioned projects for public spaces and
an on-going series of artist discussions, cinema programs, concerts,
performances, spoken word and educational programs.
