Galerie Mariska Dirkx from Roermond presents in the garden of Kasteel Groot Buggenum a sculpture-exhibition. The display of 3-dimensional contemporary art, which starts in the middle of June, concentrates on recent work of professional artists. A stroll through the lovely garden gives you a varied view of new artists and renowned sculptors. The initiative of this annual selling event has been undertaken by the current Castle manager Leo de Bruyn, former kabinetschef of the governor.
The foundation Kasteel Groot Buggenum takes the opportunity to remember the hundredth birthday of Professor Helmut Hentrich, the creator of the domain Groot Buggenum, which covers 15 acres. His superb restoration and interior decoration of the castle influenced the renewal of European interior design. Hentrich’s gift of the complete domain given to the province Limburg, makes it possible for a warm welcome during conferences, wedding parties and other special occasions. Which can take place in total privacy during the visiting hours of the sculpture garden.
Kasteel Groot Buggenum is situated in the middle of the province in the town Grathem, a very unique village in between Roermond and the white village Thorn. During the exhibition several guided tours are arranged. The colourful and flourishing garden offers, with a dimension of 4000 square meters, a spectacular and renowned view on contemporary three-dimensional art of the region. Landscape architect Ben Taken, former advisor of the Kröller-Müller sculpture garden, arranged in the garden an excellent harmony between art and nature.
The opening of the art event will be presided by the governor of the Queen, B. Baron van Voorst tot Voorst. The first public day is on Friday 24th of June.
Galerie Mariska Dirkx is known for her international fame gathered on the field of international exhibitions on contemporary autonomous design. The exhibition in the Kruisgangen of the former kartuizer monastery in Roermond is good example. In her participation of foreign art fairs is the constant renewal of the international collection a reason of fame in the 30 years of existence of the gallery. The exhibition has been made possible by province Limburg, Gemeente Heythuysen & Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds.
