The jurors for this year's exhibition are both well respected gallerists,
prominent within and beyond the San Francisco art community. Catharine Clark
established Catharine Clark Gallery at 49 Geary Street in San Francisco in
1995. Although the gallery has exhibited works by artists at varying stages
of their careers and from various locales, the gallery largely focuses on
showcasing and supporting emerging artists from the West Coast. In 2002, it
was the first San Francisco art gallery to create a dedicated screening room
for showcasing video work with each changing exhibition.
In addition to his gallery experience, Jack Hanley has extensive academic
experience and has taught art for graduate level artists at Princeton,
University of Texas at Austin, and University of Rhode Island. In 1990 he
opened Jack Hanley Gallery in San Francisco's Mission District and last year
opened a second gallery in Los Angeles. The artists he represents work in a
wide range of media, from drawing to mixed media installation--and are
engaged in projects with many esteemed art institutions, including SFMOMA,
SITE Santa Fe, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
