"Summer Salon: Paintings and Photographs by Gallery Artists"

George Billis Gallery, L.A. will exhibit recent paintings and photographs by current and newly represented gallery artists. The exhibition will run from August 2 – September 3, 2005. A reception for the artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, August 6th from 5 – 8 p.m. The Summer Salon will include works by both local and nationally based artists, including Texans Amy Lindsay-Joynt, Ellen Francis Tuchman, and Johnny Robertson, as well as L.A. painters Craig Carlisle, Glenn Ossiander, and Liane Ricci, San Francisco photographer Jeanne Friscia and painter Stanley Goldstein, Oregon photographer David O’Connor, and New Yorkers, painter Brian Novatny, and photographer Lori Nix, as well as many others.

The Summer Salon will highlight the work of artists new to the gallery, as well as recent work by painters and photographers the gallery has exhibited since opening in September of last year. The works on view will demonstrate the diverse styles and mediums of the artists participating, and will include the abstract oil paintings on panel of Liane Ricci; large earth-toned encaustic works by Aaron David Smith; the black and white abstract images of bees through Rose-Lynn Fisher’s use of macrophotogaphy; figurative acrylic paintings of fantastical beings by Craig Carlisle; Surrealist mixed media pieces by Alejandro Mazón; and the sepia-toned landscape photographs of David Halliday.

George Billis Gallery, L.A. is located at 2716 S. La Cienega Blvd., between Venice and Washington Boulevards in Los Angeles and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The gallery recently opened its second location in the Culver City area of Los Angeles, and marks its ninth year in the Chelsea arts district in New York City.
