nternationally known Singaporean watercolourist, Ong Kim Seng will be having his first solo exhibition at Elle Six Art Gallery. The gallery will showcase 26 of his paintings that have spanned over 36 years of his career as an artist. Elle Six Art Gallery invites you to in an exhibition entitled ‘The Art of Ong Kim Seng’ which runs from September 7 till September 22, 2005.
An accomplished watercolourist throughout his career, his skills and techniques have resulted in numerous of awards and one of his work, “Bhaktaphur” was the first Singaporean watercolour painting to be auctioned by Sotheby's in Hong Kong in 1993. In the following year his work "Bali" was auctioned by Christie's in Singapore. From that time, his paintings are auctioned annually in Singapore and in the region
Born in Singapore, he is a self taught artist. An ardent traveler, he often paints his journeys, culture, experiences and memories. Ong Kim Seng is the first Asian to be awarded membership to the American Watercolor Society in 1990 where he is an active member. An established artist, he holds various positions and among them are Honorary President of the Singapore Watercolour Society, an arts advisor to the Singapore National Arts Council (since 1998) and a life fellow of the National University of Singapore's Centre of the Arts.
