The Karin Weber Gallery presents Min Wae Aung: Watercolors in an exhibition through December 10. Min Wae Aung was born in 1960 in Danubyu, Myanmar. In 1982 graduated from the State School of Fine Art in Yangon, and studied further under Burmese master painters U Goon, Y Mya Aye. Min Wae Aung participated in his first group exhibition in 1984, and had his first international group show in 1990 in the USA. Since then he has become a sought after name in the art world with regular exhibitions in Asia (Singapore and Hong Kong) Europe ( London, Berlin in 2003) and the USA. For 2006 exhibitions are schedules in Santa Fe/USA, Australia and Paris.
"I often get asked why I show most of my figures from the back, and not in profile or full face. The face tells an immediate story, but seen from the back, the mystery about the person is not so easily revealed. " States the artist.
Karin Weber Antiques and Fine Art Gallery is located in the vibrant SoHo area of Hong Kong, close to the mid-levels escalator. Small Restaurants serving international cusine vie with old fashioned shops selling fruit and vegetables, herbal medicines and newly opened Art Galleries and Life Style shops.
The Gallery showcases fine late Qing Dynasty antique furniture in an 'at home' ambience and you will find the friendly owner and her team knowledgeable and helpful. The majority of pieces are left with their original patina intact with just a final matt beeswax polish. We are happy to discuss and explain the various refinishing options available. Karin Weber's aim is to offer the best quality furniture at fair prices.
The Art Gallery organises six new exhibitions per year showing works by established and young & upcoming Asian artists, working in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. They have works available from all the Artists they represent.
