Moot is proud to present the continuation of Redrawn, an evolving installation by Nottingham based artist Niki Russell as part of Sideshow. The work employs a system of monotonous actions based on rules within rules, time limits and awkward interference. Responding to Moot’s transitional makeover from warehouse to white exhibition space, Russell will sift for the inevitable gaps that have been left through this process. Once identified, these will be exemplified and manipulated in order to physically alter the appearance of the Moot space.
Russell will develop these actions in what he considers his ‘spare time’. Starting when the exhibition opens he will make several visits to the space each week, offering visitors the potential to either chance upon him working in the space or to simply observe this modified terrain. The exhibition will conclude with a closing event where the ‘outcome’ of these actions can be examined.
Recent projects have included Plinths Cut-up, RED Gallery, Hull; Redrawn, Waygood Gallery, Newcastle; Moving Balloons, BALTIC, Newcastle; and Playing Life, Elastic Residence, London.
