"Call for Artists: Utopia"

USA United States of America
A Shenere Velt Gallery of The Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring, Southern California District, has issued a Call for Artists to participate in a juried exhibition entitled "Utopia." It will be on display November 5 through December 29, 2006, in the Gallery, 1525 S. Robertson Blvd., Los Angeles, California. The deadline for submission of materials is September 1, 2006.
Jurors are Mark Vallen, artist and social commentator; Mark Greenfield,
artist and Director of the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery; and Alice
Wexler, writer, scholar and biographer of Emma Goldman.
Artists are asked to submit slides of up to three wall-hung works in any
media (except jewelry and ceramics) that speak to the theme of "Utopia." In
a world climate of pessimism and fear, dreams of earthly paradise and
possibility are vital. Pieces selected for this show will reflect on the
myriad imaginings of perfect worlds and the shapes they might take.
Any artist wishing to obtain a copy of the prospectus for the show may
download it from www.circlesocal.org. Or write to A Shenere Velt Gallery,
1525 S. Robertson Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035-4231 and enclose a
business-size self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE).
