ART IN PLACE - LINKING ART TO ECOLOGY. Peter London, Antony Gormley & Peter Randall-Page. September 10-22, 2006. Nature has always inspired artists, and art offers a medium for a deeper environmental connection. This course will offer an opportunity to explore the relationship between humans and the natural world. Course participants will investigate the union between art and ecology using a variety of techniques, natural materials and sources of inspiration.
Week 1: Art and the Land For Peter London, aesthetic and ecological sensibilities are two sides of the same coin. In this course, he will work with participants to develop an artistic voice, eye and hand, by working with simple but powerful natural materials collected from the Devon countryside.
Week 2: The Artist in Nature In week two, Antony Gormley will lead participants in working with the creative media of drawing and clay to investigate the relationship between ‘self’ and the landscape. Peter Randall-Page will introduce his own works of art inspired by the Devon countryside and work with participants to explore ways in which art can help us to connect with the earth.
Course Fees - Two weeks £1,200.00
