Passion is fuel for life. We are born with passion to create with passion. We love, work and play
with passion; many pray with passion--and for it. Our need to touch is passionate: it binds us together as
couples and families, communities and nations. Yet passion, a strange and lovely fire, has a volatile
personality. The ying and yang of love and hate, passions of politics—or of the heart--can result in
extraordinary achievement, and unspeakable destruction. Now “Passion,” an exhibition sponsored by PWP
and juried by renowned photographer Elinor Carucci, invites members to present images reflecting this life
force. Please give us your most evocative work, images from daily life and from a life you can barely
imagine, images that stir the soul and echo in the mind, with passion.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all current PWP members paid up to date. All types of photography-based work
may be entered, including digital, alternative processes, photo collage and montage. Maximum print size is
16" x 20" or 20" x 20”. Work previously exhibited in a PWP show is ineligible. Submission to a PWP
exhibition does not guarantee acceptance.
JUROR: PWP is pleased to announce that Elinor Carucci, a photographer of raw and startling intimacy,
will jury this exhibition. The author of two books: Diary of a Dancer, SteidlMACK (excepts appeared on
May 22, 2005 in the New York Times Magazine as “Night Moves,” a chronicle of her life as a belly
dancer), and Closer, Chronicle Books, she is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and the
International Center of Photography Infinity Award. Her exhibitions have appeared in many cities,
including New York, London, Moscow, Geneva and Tel Aviv. Represented by the Edwin Houk Gallery,

ENTRY PROCEDURE: Entries will be juried only from CDs, with the following requirements:
· High quality jpegs 300 dpi in RGB or grayscale color space
· Size: 820 pixels on the longest dimension
· Numbered and named, e.g., 01_Smith_Greatshow.jpg.
· Burn CD to play on Macs
Please submit up to 6 images on a CD, for an exhibition fee of $ 35.00. Include finished print size on
application form. Selected CD submissions will become part of the PWP archive. Make check or money
order payable to PWP. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage for return of
materials. Fill out the entry form. Please mail form, exhibition fee, SASE and CDs to Umbrella Arts,
317 East 9th Street, New York, New York 10003, http://www.umbrellaarts.com.
Submissions must be received by mail, at the gallery, by September 29, 2006. Submissions may also be
delivered by hand to the gallery from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM.
