"Sense and Sensuality: An Exhibition Organized by BlindArt"
2006-09-14 until 2006-10-07
UK United Kingdom
Sense and Sensuality is organised by pioneering charity BlindArt and presents an extravaganza of contemporary interactive art encompassing paintings, sculpture and installation at the Bankside Gallery in London. Sense and Sensuality breaks through traditional hierarchies and barriers in the arts by actively encouraging all works to be experienced through touch, challenging the notion that sight is essential for creating and enjoying exceptional art.
The inaugural exhibition, Sense and Sensuality 2005, was held at the Royal College of Art, and was an unprecedented and overwhelming success with thousands of visitors to the exhibition, and an estimated 25,000,000 worldwide press and broadcast-media audience. It was opened by Rt Hon Baroness Morris of Yardley, who is now one of BlindArt's patrons.
This year, "Sense & Sensuality 2006" received over 600 entries, from which 70 finalists have been selected. The winner will be announced at the exhibition on September 14th.
Having received the support from the Arts Council of England, "Sense & Sensuality 2006" will be touring The Richard Attenborough Centre in Leicester from October to November 2006.Furthermore, the event is now set to become an international fixture when "Sense & Sensuality 2005" is shown in New York in October 2006.
Susan Hippe, a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2002, is one of the finalists of "Sense & Sensuality 2006", with two of her new Mixed Media works on canvas selected for the exhibition at Bankside Gallery. View more of Susan Hippe's work at
