Bell-Roberts Art Gallery in Cape Town presents Its never too late to be a man works by Norman OFlynn during February 2007. From paint by number superheroes to triumphant ballet dancers. Sullen body builders to mile high club hostesses. Baby bull riders to space aged fertility figures. What does it mean to be a man? Sad, happy, stronger in numbers, extroverted, introverted. Emotional, homophobic, all- embracing, clitoris -chasing. Disillusioned, self-pitying, perfect -titty-sucking. Too many kids, a sad wife, dreaming of that happy life. Its never too late to be a man.
Norman OFlynn has travelled extensively throughout Africa attending residencies and workshops in Zambia, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Botswana. He has recently returned to Cape Town after a three month residency in Switzerland.
Never too late to be a man is his fifth solo exhibition.
