Sculpting in India has a long history. Nearly 5000 years ago the Harappan artists have created wonderful sculptures. Since then this glorious tradition was flowing continuously, except some interruption, enriching the art of sculpture. In recent times the language of contemporary sculptures has become a bit difficult in terms of expression. Apart from stone, wood, bronze used in traditional sculpture, a variety of new materials are also employed now a days. These works are most significant and unique in their own respect. So an attempt would be made to showcase some of such excellent works with an expectation that the viewers can get an idea about the trend and tendencies of present plastic art.

But with the passage of time, nature has gradually came to occupy a position of prime importance in the delineation of the contemporary art works. Many artists got inclined to portraying full fledged landscapes besides their figurative paintings. We would try to present some of such unique specimens in our forthcoming exhibition, where spectators can enjoy the diverse charming beauties of ever moving nature.
