Galeria Atlantica located in the Hotel Vila Sol, Vilamoura, Portugal will be exhibiting paintings by Jessica Dunn, Seegrun Lubke and Tiago Oliveira from June 5 until July 3, 2007. Jessica Dunn has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2001. This British artist was born in London in 1963. She comes from a theatrical background (her father is comedy actor Clive Dunn and her mother is actress Priscilla Morgan). Tiago Oliveira was born in Lisbon in 1977. In 2001 he obtained his B.A. in Plastic Arts – Painting, by the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Between 1969 and 1975, Seegrun Lubke attended the Fine Arts School of Hamburg, where she got her diploma in Visual Arts with Prof. Michel.
In 1986 Jessica moved to the Algarve, where she now lives with her Portuguese husband and two young daughters, who are a constant source of
inspiration for her work.
Jessica has exhibited extensively across Portugal, as well as in England, including the Eaton Gallery in London and at the Biennale Internazionale
Dell'Arte Contemporanea in Florence. Her works are represented in various private collections in Portugal and abroad.
Vibrant is an apt description of Jessica Dunn's collection of oil paintings: The sun,
the sea and music of Portugal are all strong influences in her work. Her images of
children playing on beaches are achieved with a lively brush-stroke and vivid palette,
creating a delightful sense of spontaneity. Equally captivating are her portraits of
musicians and dancers and her animal paintings are portrayed with great affection
and humour.
Jessica's work reflects the Algarve, its intense light, its people and a culture rich in
colour and tradition. Jessica has adopted Portugal and Portugal has adopted Jessica.”
In 1984, Seegrun decided to move to Portugal and take residence in the Algarve.
For many years it was evident that the theme transported to her canvases had a lot of movement, like dance. Later the desire for abstract graphic
elements showed up in Seegrun’s work.
In this sequence, the lines became larger with volume and the themes became more contemporary, done both in oil and acrylic. This process hides many challenges such as the language of forms, colours, rhythm and of the brush strokes. Other aspects to be considered were the material used, its texture
and its surface.
The communication between the interior and the exterior, the conscious and the unconscious, are for Seegrun essential parts of the creative process.
She has participated in many exhibits, both solo and collective, in Portugal and abroad and represented in various private and institutional collections.
During this month of June, Seegrun will also participate in the “MED Festival 07”, in Loulé, as an Algarve resident artist.
At the moment Tiago Oliveira is finishing his Master degree in Drawing, by the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. In 2002, 2003 and 2005 he held solo exhibitions at Galeria ARTELA, Lisbon, Galeria Arte & Ofício, Setúbal and Casa das Artes, Porto. Tiago has participated in many collective exhibits since 2000, both in Portugal and Poland. He was represented at Lisbon Art Fair – ARTE LISBOA – by the Galeria Valbom, Lisbon, in 2006.
