Step Into Leonardo's Shoes with this Anatomy Drawing Workshop.
the 5-day Intensive Workshop will take place this year 9 July to 13 July 2007.
Want to draw human anatomy specimens? Once again the University of New South Wales (Sydney) is offering the opportunity to draw real human specimens in the School of Medical Sciences (Faculty of Medicine). The 5-day workshop is conducted by Dr Brian Freeman, associate professor of anatomy, and artist Susan Dorothea White, author of Draw Like Da Vinci (Cassell Illustrated, 2006). You discover what lies beneath the skin while acquiring new drawing skills. You draw embalmed body parts (blood-free) that are displayed on tables in a spacious, well-lit anatomy laboratory. Susan Dorothea White has been a Premiere Portfolio Aritst at absoltuearts.com since 2001.
Personalised instruction is provided in an informal atmosphere. All levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals; you draw at your own pace. The figure in art history is discussed with reference to art from diverse cultures, from the work of Leonardo himself, to Rodin, Alice Neel, Jenny Saville, and Hokusai. Topics include: muscles, tendons, fascia, joints, bones, movement, expression, human development, perspective, proportion, and the golden section. Comprehensive course notes are provided, as well as refreshments during tea-breaks. Cost AUD490. Places are limited. For further information/registration email m.kwok@unsw.edu.au or visit the website. Local or campus accommodation is available at reasonable rates for overseas and interstate participants.
