The Art of Digital Show presents J. Coleman Miller’s “Apparitions from Blu Lagoon”, an International Exhibition of Digital Art at the elegant >Lyceum Theatre Gallery in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter
October 6-11, 2007. J. Coleman Miller is a lifelong artist and musician from Houston, Texas, whose work is being shown throughout the United States and in Europe. This collection of “Aleatoric Photographic Abstracts” was inspired by seldom used methods that date back thousands of years.

These aleatoric methods, used by artists ranging from the ancient Chinese to Picasso and Pollock, combined with modern photographic and digital technology, have shown the artist an exciting new way to look at the world. The large digital giclee prints are wonderfully presented on canvas, and have a painterly feel that belies the actual fact that these are all photographic images with very little, if any, digital manipulation.
A sweeping array of subject matter and color palettes make this collection a must see for all who desire something new and different in contemporary art. All of the images were taken from nature’s endless bounty of ever changing elements, and the 100 piece collection created by the artist is the result of an intense labor, with Miller pouring over more than 150,000 frames to find the hidden treasures that make up the Blu Lagoon collection. Like the spirits of the living earth of the past, these apparitions present themselves to the artist in spectacular form and color, and the results are well worth the time and energy required to extract them from their centuries of slumber.
