Paintings by Jennifer Gray have been described as graceful and powerful. Her newest abstract paintings portray fluids in motion, inspired by conditions in nature such as storms. Jennifer Gray’s Artist Statement: "I have been increasingly moving toward a feel of vorticity in my fascination with the sky, space, and water. Vorticity is the state of a fluid in motion. It is a measure of local rotation in a fluid flow. There is a smooth and transparent circulation I want to represent in an abstraction. There is an ever-changing, fleeting beauty in its free surface and interaction when a contacting a solid. I often admire these movements in the drama of storms. The term vorticity is more easily related to art if when one “googles” the word and clicks on images rather than text..."
The artist continues, " In addition to vorticity, I have also been considering the stillness of water; the light bouncing on the surface and how that relates to its depths. These abstracts are not connected to a particular trip or other artist’s influences, but rather the everyday environment and exploration of mediums in my studio. Tiny discoveries in my continuous wonderment of light, hue, flow, and texture.”
Jennifer Gray’s work has been featured in solo shows and chosen for wine labels.
