Interested artists may highlight issues like violence against women, HIV/AIDS, illiteracy/education, skill development or economic empowerment in their works. The purpose of TreasurePostcards Project 2008 is to emphasize the importance of arts in empowering and bringing women together, and creating awareness on vital issues related to girls and women.
The artworks are requested to be 4.5 x 5.5 inch or 14 x 10.5 cm in size, but can vary in media including photography, painting, mixed-media and collages of various materials, illustrations combined with poetry, anecdotes, caricatures, and many others. The submission (US post by date) is March 08, 2008, which is the International Women’s Day that has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration around the world.
Select donated works will be exhibited at the 9th Street Gallery in Washington DC in March 2008 and available for sale during an educational event/exhibit to raise funds for a women's shelter/an NGO helping women and educating underprivileged young girls.
