Greatmore Studios invites artists throughout the year to participate in our visiting artists’ programme.
The aim of the programme is to provide artists with an interactive environment where innovative work can be created and a cultural exchange can take place. The studio ethos is one of co-operation and interaction. Over the years Greatmore Studios has developed a strong reputation internationally attracting artists from a cross section of communities around the world.
As a visiting artist you will be expected to make full use of your studio, create new and innovative work, exchange ideas with other resident artists, exhibit your work at the end of the residency and complete an outreach project within the community.
To be selected, you must submit a motivational letter explaining why you think Greatmore Studios is the right place for you to participate in a residency. You should also mention how you intend to use your time here and what you propose to do for your outreach project.
If you are selected on a Greatmore Sponsored Residency, the programme will include accommodation, studio space, a per diem, material budget, outreach budget and exhibition/catalogue costs.
Note: Greatmore Studios has a limited amount of sponsored residencies you can apply as a self funded applicant or you can request a Greatmore sponsored residency.
Travel costs to and from Cape Town and travel insurance are not included.
