Ned Sublette "Kiss You Down South"
Tuesday, October 23, 2012 @ 8:00 PM

Ned Sublette is one of the most unclassifiable talents of the New York music scene - a composer, musician, record producer and musicologist known for his exquisitely unique combination of Cuban and country styles. To mark the forthcoming release of "Kiss You Down South", his first album in over a decade, Ned Sublette is giving an exclusive solo concert performance of the album’s songs at Roulette.  "Kiss You Down South" is a stripped-down solo album made at New Orleans’s Piety Street Recording.  Produced by Sublette with longtime colleagues Peter Gordon and Mark Bingham, it was conceived as “something I could sit down and do live without anyone else, just me and my guitar”.   Don't miss this rare performance - Sublette's first NYC show in over two years!

Bunita Marcus' 60th Birthday Celebration + CD/DVD Release
Sunday, October 28, 2012 @ 3:00 PM

Highly acclaimed composer and musician Bunita Marcus celebrates her 60th birthday and the US release of recording cooperative Testklang’s debut CD/DVD/Art object of Marcus' work.  Testklang’s pianist Marc Tritschler performs works from the record as well as “Julia,” based on John Lennon’s song of the same name.  “Sleeping Women” by filmmaker Aron Kitzig will be presented, and Marcus will perform her composition “Untrammeled Thought” with cellist Christina Stripling.  The concert ends with the unforgettable “…But to Fashion a Lullaby for You” a 24-minute work for piano in memory of Morton Feldman.  This work represents a new form of communication between the composer and the audience, where the deep feelings of the piece come through the music as a mysterious subtext, rather than represented in the music itself.
