UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS AT SAAG
December 7 to January 27, 2013

Opening Reception: Friday, December 7 at 5 PM
Reception Sponsored by North & Company LLP

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery is excited to announce our upcoming exhibitions. Opening in conjunction with First Friday on December 7, Cyclorama showcases the work of Toronto based installation artist Lyla Rye. This exhibition offers a series of still images, single channel videos, and mixed media installations that look to the theatrical curtain as a device to conflate illusion and reality, dreaming and wakefulness, audience and participant.

Opening concurrently is Eleanor King's Stacks. The Halifax based artist finds inspiration in the everyday - those deceptively mundane, overlooked, and understated aspects of contemporary life that one might adapt, revitalize, assemble or dismantle, and in the process, reveal as dignified and often extraordinary.

Interested in Volunteering?
Installations are the perfect opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at how exhibitions come together and we’re looking for energetic volunteers with some gallery or installation experience to help in mounting our upcoming exhibitions!

For more information about this opportunity contact:

CALL FOR EQUIPMENT

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery is seeking items for a new installation by Halifax artist Eleanor King. We're currently accepting donations and loans of VHS tapes, vinyl LPs or 45s, any electronic equipment including (but not limited to) projectors, dvd or vhs players, tv monitors, stereo equipment, radios, speakers, computer towers, books, or anything else you may like to part with as long as it's black in colour. Eleanor is also looking for a few choice furniture pieces - either that are already black or can be painted - shelving, coffee table, and a 70s style stereo cabinet are items of particular interest to the artist.

If you're interested in donating/loaning items contact:
Christina Cuthbertson, Assistant Curator
403-327-8770 x 24 | ccuthbertson@saag.ca

Eleanor King's exhibition Stacks will open on Friday, December 7 at 5 PM and will remain on view until January 27, 2013.
