Call for Curatorial Proposals

The Camera Club of New York (CCNY) is pleased to announce an open call for curatorial proposals for the 2013-2014 season.

CCNY hosts four guest-curated exhibitions each year, inviting thoughtful artists and curators to propose new and dynamic exhibition ideas for our gallery. CCNY is especially interested in proposals that include emerging and mid-career artists and encourages a broad exploration of ideas relating to contemporary photography and current discourse. CCNY is very open to working in affiliation with other venues.

The FotoVisura Grant aims to support personal photography projects and encourage the production and development of photography outside the commercial realm. The grant is divided into two categories: the FotoVisura Grant for Outstanding Personal Project and the Spotlight Grant for Outstanding Student Project.

One International Award Winner receives a solo exhibition at Silver Eye opening mid-January 2013, $3,000 for exhibition-related expenses, and an online gallery on Silver Eye’s website. One Keystone Award Winner receives a spotlight exhibition in mid-January 2013, $1,000 for exhibition-related expenses, and an online gallery on Silver Eye’s website. One Multimedia Storyteller Award Winner for a documentary or internet-based project receives $500 and a dedicated article with URL and/or video download via Silver Eye’s website.

CCNY’s Digital Station Expansion


CCNY is happy to announce the addition of new digital equipment. We have acquired a new Mac computer and high-end large monitor, and now offer two digital stations for members to scan, edit and complete post-production work.

Our Hasselblad Imacon X1 scanner, capable of scanning high-resolution digital files from 35mm, medium format, and 4x5 sheet film, is now housed in a private room, with a computer station solely dedicated to use with this scanner.

All members are able to use the Imacon, as well as our other digital, wet darkroom, and studio facilities, 24 hours a day. Signing up for CCNY membership is easy, and comes with many benefits. Join us today!
