Jack Siegel's man-made constellations remind us that any patterns pinpointed in a nightsky, even those used by ancient mariners, originated as a human fabrication. The interplay between the natural order of things and what we then read into those configurations is at the root of Siegel's picturemaking here. During 2012 he exhibited individual constellation photograms in group shows at DIA: Macon and the final "It Ain't Fair" inaugural presented by OhWow Gallery during last month's Art Basel Miami. While this show marks his New York solo debut, he presented work two summers ago at Cooper Union alongside Lucien Smith in their two person "Imagined Nostalgia" installation.
