In follow up to SAAG’s writing workshop, How to Write a Review, SAAG and The Banff Centre are hosting a writing competition that is intended to encourage new, up-and-coming art writers in Alberta.
FIRST PRIZE: An all-expense-paid, week-long residency at The Banff Centre.
SECOND PRIZE: $250 - Sponsored by Dr. Carol Williams, Chair of Women and Gender Studies, University of Lethbridge.
The winner of the competition, and the runner-up, will be announced on Saturday, February 9th, during SAAG's opening reception for Ecotopia and Ecotone.
We are wasting no time getting back into the swing of things for the New Year - SAAG is already gearing up for another full slate of education programs for kids. Be sure to register your children before all the spots are taken!
ART CLUB
Fridays from January 4 to March 22 | 12:30 to 5 PM
Registration deadline: January 7
Art Club runs every Friday afternoon throughout the school year and provides a space for your 6 to 9 year old to explore the fundamentals of art making. They'll learn different techniques including traditional and non-traditional forms of art making as they experiment with different types of media. Not sure if it's the right program for your child? Tender Fingers is an opportunity for your 3 to 5 year old to learn the basics of art through our creatively driven activities. Using various media, campers will explore many forms of 2D and 3D art in a safe and encouraging environment. Read more.

ART & CULTURE TOUR: VENICE MAY 31 TO JUNE 9, 2013
VENICE: LA SERENISSIMA - THE MOST SERENE REPUBLIC
This iconic city, celebrated for its art, architecture, and rich cultural history is the perfect destination for SAAG’s fourth annual Art & Culture Tour. Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience as we explore the 55 Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale). This international art exhibition is one of the oldest and largest of its kind, attracting artists, curators, writers and enthusiasts to Venice to partake in the event. Art Historian David Coman will enhance your Venetian experience as he leads us on historic walking tours and guides us through a number of other attractions and institutions.
