About Vik Muniz
Vik Muniz began his career as a scultptor but eventually turned his attention exclusively to photography. Muniz specializes in remaking famous works of art with materials other than paint, and then photographing them. He transforms trash into bold works of art, and transforms lives in the process. His exhibition Vik Muniz: Garbage Matters is on view through April 28, 2013 at Mint Museum Uptown. He was the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary Waste Land, which will screen at the Mint FREE on January 29, 2013.
