Join the Mattress Factory as we invite all the leaders, dreamers, believers and teachers to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.! We will open our doors on Monday, January 21st from 10am until 5 pm, with activities from 12-4pm. Everyone is invited to participate in hands-on interactive workshops and eat birthday cake. Later that night, we have invited Thaddeus Mosley and filmmaker Ken Love to join us for a screening of the documentary "Thaddeus Mosley: Sculptor" at 6pm. ArtLab: Artificial Nature
1.19.13 | Saturday | 1-4pm
Free With Admission
Join artist and MF educator Elise Walton on a journey inspired by Winifred Lutz and Rolf Julius. Visitors will create leaves and other natural elements by ironing plastic bags into a fused fabric. Participants will install these leaves into the garden and create a drop of confusion in an expected landscape. Twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays, visitors are invited to participate in a range of art-making activities that illuminate the creative process of in-residence artists. Projects and materials are developed to complement current and ongoing exhibitions. |
